Mark has a PhD in Social Anthropology and possesses extensive experience of applying ethnographic and qualitative techniques to diverse social and cultural contexts in order to understand people’s behaviour. He combines wide experience of academic research with assignments for commercial and public sector clients, with a portfolio including projects in Sri Lanka, the Caribbean and India, as well as many UK collaborations. His expertise lies in researching human-environment relationships and he is adept at gaining insights that reflect people’s different perspectives and lived experiences. His ESRO work has included fieldwork for the Design Council study into violence and aggression in A&E, and a project with clients of the UK Border Agency.
Outside of work, Mark is a keen traveller and an enthusiastic volunteer. He has, for example, worked as an expedition leader with a charity that encourages young people’s personal development by undertaking overseas challenges to Africa and India.
